Amir Lacey (they/them) is a queer fabricator, artist, educator, and activist based in Kansas City, MO. They are passionate about making cool stuff, building community, and creating spaces where people can learn, experiment, and feel welcome.

For the past three years, Amir has served as the Instructional Technician in Central Shop at Kansas City Art Institute. As staff, they manage the woodshop as an instructional space and work closely with students to develop their skills and confidence. They bring more than twelve years of experience in technical theatre, with work at Santa Fe Opera, Opera San José, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Paper Mache Monkey.

Amir is also deeply involved in Kansas City's lindy hop community, where they teach, DJ, perform, and serve as Director of Safety and Community Engagement. When they're not working or dancing, they enjoy reading fantasy and science fiction by queer and BIPOC writers, experimenting with new mediums, and spending time with their partner and dogs.
